The 235 I’m working on had sat for many decades. Condensation did considerable damage necessitating a complete overhaul. My distributor gear had some rust on it and I’d like to replace it. Does anybody know where I can find a new gear? The distributor is in great condition otherwise. I’ve looked at all the online places I know of, but no one sells or lists the gear.

What year is the engine? There has ben a ton of discussion about steel VS cast iron distributor gears, but unless you're running a steel alloy cam from a 216 or early spray oiler 235, the same gear that fits a 250 or 292 distributor will work. Those distributors will be simpler to find in a salvage yard or on Ebay than an early stovebolt unit in case you have to scavenge up a used one. Summit and JEGS sell a bronze gear for a 250 that will also work.

Check the part number on your distributor. It should end in 2401. If it does, the correct part number is delco 1929578.

There is one for sale on eBay as we speak for 20.00
