Hello, I recently purchased a 1951 GMC 2 ton flatbed dump truck with a 179 inch wheel base, fourteen foot bed and a two speed rear end. It has not run in fifteen years. The engine has 270 only stamped on the block near the distributor which makes me believe it had a factory engine replacement. The frame has been beefed up with a larger cross section added that runs from just behind the front spring hangers to just in front of the rear spring mounts. Does anyone know if this was a common thing to do? The truck came from eastern Oregon so is pretty much rust free except for parts of the floorboards and some surface rust. It needs a lot of rubber parts replaced but I am looking forward to getting it back to work.
