Ron,

I know your pain. Our inbox is slammed everyday. We use several emails for our personal business as well as for the site and its a daily chore for Peggy to go through the and delete the spam.

If you have registered to use any of the major social media like F@ceb00k, thatanti-Americansocialmediasite, G00gle (or subsidiaries like GMail), then there isn't much you can do -- they sell your contact and personal info.

Don't use them, switch your browsing to Firefox and your searching to Duck Duck Go and you may see a reduction. There are alternatives to F@cebook and the others, too. Check them out.

There are also commercially available spam filters you can use. I do not know how well they work or how thy cost, though.

Your choice of email client may make a difference. I like Thunderbird. It seems to have pretty good spam filters plus you can easily add to the blocked senders list. One of my neighbours sends annoying emails; it was easy to set it up so his stuff goes directly to trash.
