For Baldeagle's (Paul) information:

1954 chevrolet truck [websearch.com]

This was a G o o g l e.com search on "1954 chevrolet truck" but the Stovebolt server software changed it into a Websearch search (websearch.com). (the spaces in G o o g l e were necessary to keep that name from being converted into the word/name Websearch). The resultant Websearch link/search does not work.

OK. Here's the URL that you posted.
Code
https://www.websearch.com/search?q=1954+chevrolet+truck&sxsrf=AOaemvIq3b4fdf3QpLYB4ogSV6ewJ2n6aw%3A1639160230996&ei=ppmzYaXiO5qMwbkPxO-kUA&ved=0ahUKEwilzbDa69n0AhUaRjABHcQ3CQoQ4dUDCA4&oq=1954+chevrolet+truck&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAxKBAhBGABKBAhGGABQAFgAYABoAHACeACAAQCIAQCSAQCYAQA&sclient=gws-wiz

And here's the URL that websearch created when I did the same search.
Code
https://www.websearch.com/search?q=1954+Chevrolet+truck&client=safari&sxsrf=AOaemvIOt8b63pB9zIm9WQ60hLD0aiOxSA%3A1639163567160&source=hp&ei=r6azYc6wBrOuqtsP04KcoAM&iflsig=ALs-wAMAAAAAYbO0vw765o0FeWgF74di4ElIbbC9iNbI&ved=0ahUKEwiOxJWR-Nn0AhUzl2oFHVMBBzQQ4dUDCAw&uact=5&oq=1954+Chevrolet+truck&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBQgAEIAEMggIABCABBDJAzIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQ6BwgjEOoCECc6DQguEMcBEK8BEOoCECc6BAgjECc6CAgAEIAEELEDOgsILhCABBCxAxCDAToLCC4QgAQQxwEQowI6DgguEIAEELEDEMcBEKMCOggILhCxAxCDAToICC4QgAQQsQM6CAgAELEDEIMBOgQIABADUMUIWOFaYLBfaAhwAHgAgAGmAYgBugySAQQxOS4ymAEAoAEBsAEK&sclient=gws-wiz

Now, here's the same search posted as a URL here in the forum. Testing [websearch.com]

Notice how the word g-oogle is being changed to websearch? If I type G-oogle the normal way, this is what you get - websearch.

Code
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=1954+Chevrolet+truck&ia=web

DuckDuckGo search [duckduckgo.com]

Code
https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=1954+Chevrolet+truck&fr=yfp-t&ei=UTF-8&fp=1
Yahoo search [search.yahoo.com]

Code
https://www.bing.com/search?q=1954+Chevrolet+truck&search=&form=QBLH&sp=-1&pq=1954+chevrolet+truck&sc=8-20&qs=n&sk=&cvid=92A1BB5E3D1949CFB4254AA8ABF63C01
Bing search [bing.com]

So, something is converting G-oogle searches to websearch.com but not duckduckgo or yahoo or bing searches.

What that is will take some time to track down.

This was discussed a while back. John has an issue with g o o g l e and has programmed the Stovebolt software to change it to websearch.

You can click the link, then go back into your browser address bar and change websearch to g o o g l e (without the spaces, of course). It should work then. I just tried that on Tim's link and it worked as predicted. It first comes up with a "secure connection failed" message. Then when the address is changed, comes up with the page requested.

You are correct. John added a censor for G=oogle to change it to websearch, so every time you type G=oogle, the software changes it to websearch. Since John did it, I'm not changing it. But it's not a hack or virus on the site.

Yes. Sorry. A lot has gone on since I did that and I had quite forgotten about it.

And yes, I do have a problem with G00gle. At first, it was great and a real help to the site. But then, they, like other Big Tech, started inserting too many tenticles into our business. Either through an arrogant attitude of "we know this stuff better than you do" or just flat out trying to know too much about all of our users, or a combo of both, it became controlling, intrusive and over reaching.

Much like F@cebook. And we've had *nothing* to do with that evil enterprise since the beginning. Why anyone does is beyond me, but it's still a (mostly) free country and people are free to surrender their freedoms, I suppose, even if in so doing, they surrender all their personal details as well.

If you still want to b1tch about losing your access to G00gle on this site, then you all probably wring your hands and complain about the economy and a fake president who is leading us all to our National self-destruction while posting the latest shots of your trip to the dump on f@cebook and going back about your daily business. Wake up, folks G00gle, F@cebook, M1cr0s0ft, U-Toob and all the others make it easy and convenient and enjoyable so that you won't notice the chains quietly and subtly being placed around your necks. Not unlike our current government's evil attempts to win hearts and minds through throwing trillions of dollars we will *never* have away on pointless social programs. Join the movement to Rumble, Gettr, Duck Duck Go and the other Freedom-loving, non-intrusive online efforts. Be free. While you still can. Preserve our online Freedoms! Preserve our National Freedom.

And if you truly enjoy this hobby, you will vote next November to take back our Government from the progressive tyrants currently trying to destroy America. Be sure to demand election integrity.

Re-read the Declaration of Independence sometime.

Thanks,

Well that is going to get some feathers ruffled but I am so glad it has been said. I know we are about the hobby and I normally stick to that. John, well said and my hat is off to you for doing it. Wake up America!

#1 There have never been any "fake" presidents.
#2 I'm deeply disappointed that this site has become politically partisan.

Yes, please no politics. It leaves many of the international members like me wondering...

As for websearch, I recommend DuckDuckGo. I have been using it as my default search engine for years. It's important to do everything you can to keep your personal information off line to help avoid fraud and identity theft.

Speaking of security...

Some members here have put their birthday in their profile. I didn't do that. Birthdays can be used by fraudsters, so keep it secret. If Giggle, Twatter or Farcebook wants your birthday, give them a fake one.

Obviously, no site gets my SIN (Canadian version of social security number), drivers licence number or other vital data.
