Those live events, they have people typing the Captions live and on the fly, so if they don't understand the jargon of what they are hearing, they get it wrong in a hurry.
I always thought that for live events, they should just have a closed captioning trained person explaining what is being shown, instead of trying to translate the announcers.
My mom was tone deaf, so I grew up watching the CC being mangled during NASCAR races, etc..
