that new trucks are too big and expensive? I was at a friend's house yesterday when a friend of hers came by with his new Dodge Maxed-out Dodge truck. I barely could see over the bed and you needed a step bar to get in. I am guessing that it was $70,000. He says he gets a new one each year, btw a retired Chrysler employee.

The GMC Yukon comes in XL, not sure when the XXL is coming out. That's the reason I purchased a 1986 pickup, I don't need seating for 6 but I wanted an 8 foot box.

Ron, that's exactly why we pulled the bed off Mrs. Kathy's 2500 Ram when it was about a week old and put a flat bed on. She's about 5'4 and no way she could reach into the bed. Also it was so high it didn't play well with her gooseneck horse trailer. I'd have given it a couple days and there would have been crushed bed sides due to the gooseneck hitting when off road or anywhere that wasn't perfectly level.

To add to that... the step-ups that are built into the back bumper on my GMC are so high that many who buy this truck would need a step stool first and then use the step.. and I only have a 1/2 ton so the 3/4 ton is even taller yet

I already have a house payment and don't want another. I really haven't seen a truck that I like, most of the new designs look the same as the rest.

Unless there are some unforeseen problems other than getting one the new Ford maverick should sell very well. Right size right seating, right features. I also wonder what ford and chevy are going to do to get rid of the lots full of trucks when the chip becomes available.

I suspect there'll be sufficient pent up demand to take care of the NOS with the standard year end discounts. Now if I Needed a new truck I'd be standing in line. Luckily that's not the case.

For now, there will still be a place for the fossil fuel burning versions. Anything else just doesn't have the range and has an extended "refuel" time.

I've settled on my '98 C3500 being my last. It has 180,000 miles on it now and, when it comes due, will be freshened up. Everything on that truck is rebuildable, easier than trying to rebuild the latest and greatest. I know because that's where my career path has led me to these days.

My 05 Yukon is about to turn 300k, I have no intention of replacing it. I can rebuild or replace most everything on the truck for less than a years worth of payments. I would drive it across country tomorrow if I needed too.

I gave my 2017 to my granddaughter on the 12th of this month and bought a 2008 HHR with 142,000 miles and I thought I would never buy something with more than 100,000 miles. I have not gone out of town yet but on the first of October I have to take a friend to the VA hospital for surgery and am a little apprehensive about it, it is only 55 miles but there is a time issue if something happens. He has a new Buick Enclave but I would rather not drive it. The Encore had less than 20,000 after 43 months. I do drive the 54 a lot. There is a VA hospital 6 miles from his house be always goes to the other one. I anybody has been following the saga of the Encore she really likes it and she named RUBY after she got it home. I had a custom plate made for the front with the American flag and the mascot of her school on it. Craig, I watch a lot of repair shows and the first thing I try to see is the odometer and I see a lot of vehicles with 200,000 even up in the 300,000 miles.
