Does any of you know the differance in the '55-'59 set vs the '61? I have talked with 3 different companies and they can not tell me, nor do they have the '61 in stock. The front bolt with grease zert is all over, but the rear has a mount in the frame and the leaf. Both use a bolt with threads in the middle and the a tapper to more threads on the ends. The sleeve in the leaf and frame both have a coil for the threads? The pic for the '55-'59 look to be the same with the only thing different that I can see, is the two shackles have a square hole for a carriage bolt? I ordered a set and figured crossed the parts can me used or modified to work? I spoke to General Spring and asked if they could make a different bushing for the rear to accommodate the bolt from the front, he said yes. Is that what you guys would do if the parts coming will not fit? Why is this there not a conversion kit out there for these?

Prior to '60 all 4x4s were NAPCO conversions, not factory built. Not much the same.

How hard is it to use the NAPCO shackles and modify the spring end and frame mount? Guess I will know next week lol.

One of the problems you are going to have with your shackles/bolts is that the 61-62 GM pickups had torsion bar suspension in lieu of the common 'A'-arm suspension that the '63 and later had. Your truck could be in the 'Donut hole' between the earlier NAPCO'S and later corporate 4x4's. Wm.

Ya, the parts were to small. Found a machine shop to fix rear shackles and then build new from scratch. See how it turns out?

"60 up were factory built 4X4, frames not the same between "C" & "K" .

If anyone needs a set for the front on a pre 60, I have one. Cost $200 to have new ones made.

Muddbutt,
No selling on this page, but I would be interested to know the differences between the 2 sets you have. I struggle with 4x4 differences on some bits and pieces and to know what the differences are will make us all smarter.
Others might also be interested in your local source.

Sorry guys guy didn't mean to try to sell it. Hambone, it is hard to put pics on here. I can text you what I have and whet the difference is in them if you would like.
