I'd like to separate the 2 pieces of each hood half. I plan on sandblasting the larger section and molasses soak the smaller section. Any suggestion on how to remove the hinge pin holding them together?

I have to assume you're talking about a hood that's hinged in the middle (pre-47). It helps it you create a signature that includes info on the truck you're working on. Or at least tell us with each post.
I removed the hinge pin on a Model A years ago just by driving it out with an other rod that was a bit smaller. You definitely have to be sure the hood halves aren't rusted to the pin.

Thanks for the signature suggestion.
Yes, pre '47, center hinge hood.

Thanks for the tip on the signature.
Hood is for 1946, split in the center.

I just drove them out on my '40. Replaced them with brass rod.

The guys suggestions are the same process I used on my ‘46. I used a blunt 6 penny nail as a punch. Once one end is driven out far enough a pair of pliers can be used to pull the remaining rod from the hinge “chamber”.

you will have to work them carefully to get them out or if they are really bad i have had to carefully bend the hinge loops to get them apart. i have found that putting them back together is easy if you get one end started, use a punch on the other end to line it up then use a drill on slow speed to spin it and it will go right in and smoothly. i use a bit of lithum grease on the rod.
