I know this may be a bit of topic for the forum but we all have some place we do the work on our trucks. With my 2 post lift now becoming a reality I need to figure the layout for my shop space. Like many of you I don't have that much to work with and always need more, the budget is forever another factor. I'm working with a 28' x 28' foot print so I want to optimize the area I have.
I would like to see some of the layout that all of you are working with, nothing fancy just a basic drawing. With any luck I can use some of your ideas and make the most out of the room I have. Thanks.

FWIW i recently visited a retired fella to pick up some rear fenders. He was working on a 41 Chevy truck in a 24x28 or 24x26 building he built. He had a center overhead I-Beam he used to hoist and lift with a chain fall. But my impression was - that was a very efficient home set up and one I would be proud to work in. Plenty of room to work on a vehicle; had upper cabinets, and a bench-. He had everything he needed within arms reach and room to walk around the vehicle and work. One third was loft - two thirds open ceiling - clear span no center post.

Check out Lugnutz (Jay's) shop...he did a build series here. He packs a lot into a 24x24 garage maximizing every available square inch! Worth a look... Mike B

Mike, I saw Lugnutz series he did, I told him I was going to steal his overhead shelf design. He has a lot going on in a small space.

Think of it as a "cell" like many companies use in manufacturing. Basically its to set up your shop to use the least amount of walking......to get to the tools you use the most often.
.....when putting stuff in my shop and making something like a "cell" I did end up moving some things around to make it more user friendly. I bet most of us have did these. The only thing "in concrete" to begin with should be the Lift.
FWIW.....I ended up moving my air compressor, my bead blasting cabinet and moved the wood working stuff about three times.

Any chance you have the link? If I remember correctly Lugnutz did a few posts on the different phases of the build. Maybe he will jump in with a link. Mike B
