I am in the process of restoring my 1950 chev truck. I just finished sand blasting and painting frame. Now as I reassemble I am noticing the front bumper I have has the front bumper guards and side bumper guards. I can not seem to find the side quards /extensions on any one elses truck so I would gather they are not a legitimate accessory. As you can see in the picture the bumper as a side chrome guard that wraps around. The bumper brackets are also different than stock. Anyone know anything about these?

That whole bumper assembly looks like a car bumper. No idea what it might be off of. A stock bumper has just a slight curvature vertically, but yours appears to bend back sharply on the top (and bottom?). It looks a little shorter than a stock bumper as well. The picture isn't really clear.

As far as it being a legitimate accessory, what constitutes an illegitimate accessory?

I will try to get a better picture of just the bumper. But it for sure has seperate end pieces. Good question about the legitimacy of the accessories. I guess if it was sold by the GM dealer I might want to keep it. If this is a special piece I guess I might try to restore. I will also take a picture of the elaborate bumper brackets.

Of course I can always scrap the whole system and buy a reproduction stainless steel bumper to maintain the original look
