Hello everyone, I am in the process of purchasing a Canadian 1948 3 ton with a 248 engine. It has been restored but hasn’t run for about 5 years or so. I will be needing some help with you knowledgeable folks to get it back into working condition. Not much info is available for these trucks on the web. Thanks for accepting me in your group.

Hello again gentlemen, I was able to post some pictures of the truck which to me is somewhat of an accomplishment! Can any of you identify what it is I am about to purchase? I personally love the truck but is it considered desirable? I have learned a little about it from the threads on Stovebolt. Things like widowmaker wheels and a 6.17:1 axle ratio are a little worrisome for me because I am planning on driving this truck in parades, car shows ect during summer. We'll see what can be done to facilitate this. Thank you for the kind welcome. Dan
It would certainly be desirable to me! That's a great looking truck! Is it already running, or are those some older pictures? Your original post said it has not run for about 5 years. If not, I shouldn't think it would be that hard to get it going. If the gas is real funky you might have to pull and clean the tank. I started one last fall that hadn't been run since 2014. On that one the gas didn't smell real bad, so I just siphoned it out and added some fresh. Then clean the points and throw a battery in it and see if she'll fire up. Good luck, and keep us posted.
