56' 3100 Chevy drum brakes

I have a question about brake shoe size for my 56' 3100 Chevy. Factory spec. for the front shoes is 11" x 2" and 11" x 1-3/4" for the rears. Could there be issues using the larger 11" x 2" shoes on the rear? Half of The feed back I've got from other truck owners and the vendors is mixed. Napa sent me 11x2 shoes for both ends. Should I keep them or get the 11 x 1-3/4 for the rears?
Thanks for the advice.
Anthony

First, I don’t think the anchor pin at the top will be long enough for the wider shoes to come against.
Second, making the rear brakes more powerful is dangerous. If they are, they are likely to lock up on a hard braking situation and send you into a tail spin.

The 1 3/4" shoes are correct for 51-57 trucks. The backing plates were changed in 58 to use the 2" shoes which carried through the 60's. I would stay with the correct shoes for your year.

To use the 2" shoes you will need the later backing plate and drums. NAPA should not have sent you the 2" under any circumstance. If you have a local store, they should have a source to get you shoes relined.

Thanks for all the advice on the brake shoes. I will return them and get the correct size.
