To All,
I'm planning an event for this coming summer that will coincide with the Southern GM Truck Nationals on the 9th and 10th of July just east of Nashville in Lebanon Tn. . The folks at the Truck Nationals have given us the go ahead to set up our "Stovebolt.com" canopy, flag and banner at their show. We will be allowed to park our truck together for the show.

The plan is to meet at the show and afterward gather at the Cedars of Lebanon State Park south of Lebanon. There are Cabin and Camp grounds available for those that wish to stay. I will reserve a pavilion for us to use as group. There are many facilities at the park so be sure and check out the web page.

If you would like to attend the show or gather up with some fellow Stovebolter's please PM me with your contact info. I will send email updates to those that reply.

Please make plans to join us in beautiful Tennessee this summer.

Craig, again, Thanks for taking the lead on the epic event!
I plan on attending, but don't know yet if the wife will be with me.
If she goes, I'll probable try and reserve a cabin for the weekend that is dog friendly. I hope she goes!
if she doesn't join me, I'll just do a hotel in town and join you at the park in the evenings with a lawn chair and maybe a cold one.

PM will be sent with my E-mail and cell number.

If the stars line up and I don't have to have the clogged by-pass repaired about that time I plan to be there....I need to talk to Jay "Lugnutz". If he goes we may join up for the ride.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

To All,
I have reserved a pavilion for our use on Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th. The pavilion is S7, located near the bathrooms and campgrounds, the facility will accommodate 80 people but is limited to 50 with COVID restraints. There are plenty of tables and a fireplace, and a large grill, parking is near by.

Please check out the facility at https://tnstateparks.com/parks/pavilions/cedars-of-lebanon

I hope to have many more "Bolters" join our gathering this summer.

I will do my best to participate. It seems that the event is going to coincide with one of the procedures I'm scheduled to have in an attempt to salvage what's left of my eyesight. My cataracts have gotten to the point that it's affecting my ability to drive, and logging over a thousand miles a week in several states is "interesting" at best. Doing any sort of machining demonstration this year is going to be out of the question- - - - -I like my fingers exactly where they are at the present.

The thought of somebody whittling on my eyes is a bit disconcerting, no matter how "routine" cataract removal is supposed to be, so if I've had a short fuse lately, it's not just the fact that I'm an obnoxious old geezer. I hope the two or three forum members I haven't managed to alienate will send some knee mail on my behalf.
Thanks!
Jerry

My Dad had his cataracts done years ago and said he was in and out in about an hour. Was driving the next day.
They corrected his vision also and he didn’t wear glasses for many years after that.
I think he had to use eye drops for about a week though.

As for making me mad at you, I dare you to try it! Not public though.
Do you still want Vicki and I to pick up that engine on the way down?
We’ll take that discussion to PM’s when we get closer to the Jamboree.

Back to the Jamboree, it’s only 8 weeks away! What is the status on t-shirts?
I also hope to hold an official Stovebolt meeting and group picture.
Everyone please bring your cameras and post up pics of the first annual event.

Don

Jerry I had both my eyes done a couple of months apart about 20 years ago and never looked back .
And not because I couldn't see back there but because there was no need .
Techniques have changed a bit since then and I'm told the process is even better now .

Good luck
John

It looks like the July event might happen in between the procedures, or possibly just after the second one, so I'm going to do my best to make an appearance, at least. Doing any sort of machining demonstration with impaired eyesight doesn't sound like a good plan, so the demo I had in mind of connecting rod reconditioning probably won't be happening. I'm planning to bring my trailer and an engine crane along to load up the parts and pieces people are bringing to the meet for me. Thanks, all!

Hoping to be there guys....if the old ticker holds up. Been having some problems. Probably make reservations at MY Place Inn sometime this week.

......Jerry, they did mine 7 years ago and it was a breeze. They do one and in about a month do the other side. Doctor with laser I could avoid glasses but that was about 6,000 our of MY pocket back then. I got the implants, wear glasses and have never looked back. You'll be amazed at how the color white is really white afterwards. They do put a line in your arm as a precaution but most always do that. I talked to the guy (an old car buddy) that did mine. I was in the "operating room" about 10-15 minutes. Hope all goes well for you.
