[I'm sure I'm digging up an old topic here but... I may be purchasing a 54 chevy truck that has the pacer front suspension installed. Talking with some folks it sounds like AMC used Dodge motors in their vehicles. My question is, would a small block chevy bolt right into the AMC motor mounts?

Thank you

American Motors had their own V8 engine with the 304ci being used in the Pacer. The Pacer ifs into an AD truck was popular and a good set up till Pacers became scarce. Chassis Engineering offered (now owned by Heidts) a bolt in no weld kit that retained the stock AD front cross member. No front end rebuild parts available but Ford disc brakes and Chevy pickup cam type caster/camber adjusters can be tweaked to work. No, the sbc engine will not bolt up to either Chrysler or AMC motor mounts but dozens of suppliers have kits to mount a sbc into ANYTHING.

Many AMC vehicles used Chrysler 727 and 904 transmissions with the AMC bellhousing bolt pattern.

My curiosity is aroused ... what engine does this possible acquisition now have?
I am admittedly a newcomer to this game ; did not know that there were '54 Chevs tooling around with a Pacer stubbed in. Mine is the run-of-the-mill '74 Camaro stub with the common 350.
