My back space button quit working on the Stovebolt Forum, have to click on left facing arrow. Did I screw something up or do I need to haul my lap top to the Geek Squad?

Most likely the contact under the key is dirty and more that likely, you will need to replace the entire keypad. I bought one for my wives Dell laptop a few years back from eBay and there were tutorials on their website on how to replace. Easy-Peasy! What type of laptop do you have?

Your backspace is working fine, something changed that you can no longer hit backspace, I noticed this a couple of days ago and just excepted that it change. It would be nice if that option came back though.

Any others experience their backspace key not functioning. I use my iPad so it’s a non issue for me.

Me too, just started this morning. My lap top is very old and running Windows 2007. Is Microsoft trying to get us to buy Windows 10?

Open up text pad, note pad, word ... whatever you have as a text editor. Type some text and test the backspace key. If it works, it's not a hardware issue.

The backspace key works fine in my email program and works fine in the Stovebolt program here in the reply section. However, when I came here to reply to Gord and Fran's post, my previous reply was still in the reply section. I had to backspace it out so it didn't show this second reply. It's not done that before!

You might need to update your browser. A browser might use the backspace key for another function. e.g. to go back in history.

If you have another browser installed, you could try it to see if it behaves badly. I'm using the latest version of Brave and the backspace works as I expect it to.

Just tried it on Microsoft Edge, no back space there either. Use Firefox as standard.
