Looking for a Rochester B with manual choke for an early-mid 60's truck. Engine is 292. Don't care on condition or if missing parts so long as the air horn and bowl are in good condition and not broken. I do not need a rebuilt unit, would rather buy one that not currently functioning as I will disassemble for pieces.

Hello Mr H. F. Farms,
I have two Rochester carbs that came off 1959 Chev 6 cyl. Would they fit in your plans. I have both of them running a couple of years ago and have been in dry storage since. How can I tell if its what you need?.

292 will have a different choke horn.

Triplep - Choke horn? Do you have a picture of something like that?

Many times the carbs will show wear in the little bracket that holds the air cleaner rod. Here is a pic

The 55-59 carbs which were only for 235 and 261 had a smaller circle and or collar to accept the earlier style air cleaner. Is that the photo you wanted?

That is the issue with my latest B. The entire bracket that holds said rod has broken off of the airhorn, likely from previous owner(s) overtightening the air cleaner hold down nut. I am either going to have a Rochester B graveyard soon to continually mess with these finicky suckers, or replace it all and try and get a different carb on it.

I will look thru what I have , I think I have one off a 250 but not sure if the venturi size is the same . I know a genuine 261 carb is different from a 261 but not sure if a 292 is different size than a 250 . These are good carbs but just a little fragile on that top air cleaner area.
