1950 Chevrolet 3100 pick up

I started with a rusty old truck from Richmond, VA. After lots of time, attention, and desire to finish, I was able to enjoy my recreation of a new truck from the "good ol days" It does have a few upgrades to make it more enjoyable to drive and safer on todays busy streets. I added a dual reservoir master cylinder and front disc brakes to bring this heavy old truck to a stop real quick. The engine is a 59 235 . It has been professionally rebuilt with a custom cut camshaft added to give the engine a little extra pep. It still has the "three on the tree" 3 speed manual trans with the torque tube driveshaft. I sand blasted the body and frame down to bare metal and started with epoxy primer to seal the metal from the elements. The fenders, cab and bed sides are original, many other parts turned to dust when sand blasted. The walnut bed wood was given to me by a friend. I had a millwork shop cut and mill it to the original specs. The truck was originally black, like my first hot rod, so I was excited to be building my second black hot rod many years after the first one. The body work and paint took more time and money than any other part of the build but I still get a big smile on my face every time I step in the garage and see that shiny cruiser ! I bought new wheels, hub caps, and beauty rings from The Wheel Smith shop in California that builds wheels of different sizes with the original old look. I knew it would be great for cruising with a nice stereo system, so to keep up with my legendary stereo system I had in my first hot rod, I went all out with the sound system ! I installed 2 dash speakers, 2 speakers behind the seat, an in-dash "old looking" modern stereo. a 300 watt amp and a 125 watt sub-woofer are both mounted under the seat. There's a cord routed up into the original ash tray where my Ipod gets plugged in with lots of music options at your finger tips. Cruising in this truck with some old Hank Williams ringing in your ears brings the "good ol days" back in style. I had some set backs and made a few costly mistakes along the way when building this truck but I kept recharging my enthusiasm by looking at all of the cool old trucks on this website and searching out answers to my questions here on The Stovebolt. This is the only vehicle i have ever owned that is older than me and it's my favorite of them all !
