OK. I've researched the forums and can not find any info on how defrost vents were made (punched? cut?) in the chrome strip at the base of the windshield on a '54 3100. Any suggestions? Also, many thanks to all of the folks that have answered my questions throughout this build.

Not 100 percent but can look tomorrow if no one answers but the trim does not have cut outs it has screws that only screw in so far similar if not the same as the inside window trim also there are metal braces at the back that hold the trim tight to the dash but await from the window .

Aha! Many thanks. That explains the lack of cutouts.
