Ms Kathy and I got dose #1 this afternoon. Our appointment was for 2pm and we got there about 1:45. Check in took all of 30 seconds and we were directed to the vaccination room. Super friendly Army National Guard medic gave the shot and directed us to the 15 minute waiting area. We don’t have reactions to shots so we waited about 5 minutes and left. We were on the road the 3 miles to home slightly before our 2pm appointment time. Signed up for dose #2 but we will be notified when ready.

Note: this post will be monitored closely for political or anti-vaxers comments and they will be deleted. The intent of this post is to express how simple the process was nothing else.

We got ours yesterday. It was a drive through. We never left the car. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes including the 15 minute wait for reaction time afterward. They made our 2nd appointment for 28 day out.
They told us we would be 80% resistant in 2 weeks then we would be 95% resistant 2 weeks after the 2nd shot.
My arm is a little sore today.

They just opened up the sign-up for old folks like myself and my wife up here in Alaska at noon on the 6th, with appointments starting on Monday 1/11. We were on at noon and tried signing up at a location that had 22 available appointments on 1/23, but by the time we waded through two pages of paperwork on the web (needing to enter birthdate at least twice) all the slots were gone. Later that evening, a friend who had also been trying to sign up (getting on multiple waiting lists) called to say another location appeared and he had signed he and his wife up for 1/12, so I tried again and got slots for the two of us for 1/13. I expect the actual vaccination will be the same type of non-event that Martin experienced.
Seems like Alaska's web site had some glitches initially, as it kept listing sites that had zero available slots, and the one we got wasn't even listed initially. That's unfortunate, and caused a lot of confusion and consternation among others I talked with.

VERY slow roll out here. We're still a month or more out for our first shot.

A few people have an allergic reaction to it. Mostly those who have allergy problems all the time. If you're one of the few you'll start showing symptoms within a few minutes and they'll treat it.

Those are very few though Tiny. Listened to a few doctors this week and
they all had the same story, just some very, very sensitive people could have
some reaction.
Hoping they'll get things going round here, 'my big old wife' is about to drive
my nuts cuz she can't get out and roam around.
Me.....well, just lock me in the barn and shove some bread and beer under the
door a couple times a day and I'm happy.
Thanks for letting us know guys about your experience, that gives us some hope
that we'll be seeing some come our way in the coming weeks.

Mixed Up
Tim, did you get notified about the vaccination and is there a age you have to be to get it?
We also live rural and have not heard of anyone other than first responders, health care worker and nursing home folks getting it.
At 65, if I get it, the wife will have them pull the plug on me in a heartbeat.

Please read the initial post starting this thread very carefully. I have had to remove some content. This thread is about the actual process of getting the vaccine and NOTHING else. Thank you
