My asking about dates for the ODSS Homecoming may seem premature. However, I need to plan ahead because I am on call one out of three weekends. This virus business may not be behind us by the spring, but at least I’ll have scheduled my time off in case it is.
Miss seeing you guys.

Well Jay, I too like to plan ahead with an alternate plan just in case.
But don’t expect an answer till late February or early March.
In the past, it has been in late April. But, that could change.

Have any new tricks up your sleeve?
Don

Tim -- They haven't had their acts together yet in this conflated fake crisis. What makes you think anything will improve by April?

As for me, I have no intention of taking their stupid placebo "innoculation"

And let's stop calling it "Homecoming." We need a new name since Stovebolt.com lost its home. And you all can't come here. So there is no "homecoming" anymore. It's just an ODSS event of some sort. We need to figure out a new name.

Plan A: Well then. I say we pick our own date and show up at the new Milliman compound (or as close as we can without being arrested) unannounced, a pop-in if you will. smile

Plan 2: I kind of like the ring of the name "Homecoming". As far as where "Home" is or isn't, our association with with each other in virtual. When speaking to normal people, I commonly refer to fellow Stovebolters as my "imaginary internet truck *** friends."
Therefore, based on the virtual roots of our association, I believe that it would reasonable to continue the use of the term "Homecoming" in a virtual sense regardless of where it is held.
Heck, this post right here had to go into outer fricking space to reach y'all. Does that suggest that it didn't come from an actual human being? Real or imagined?

Or we could just revert to Plan A...

The Title will have to start out with the “First Annual ODSS”?

Meet and fix?
Learn and Teach?
Let it Rain Garage?
The ODSS Truck Gang Bang?

I know these are not PC, but it does need a new name.

How about “Advice, Cheap Beer, Food and Cigar Smoke?
Maybe not in that order.

Being a Adhoc member, I’ll go with whatever the Grand Pooh Bear decides.

I always thought “homecoming” made it feel inviting and like I was coming home to family. I understand the name change though....

I'm hoping we have an April event as I doubt I could make Winchester this year. My first daughter is trying to get married for the second time this year and I bet Winchester and the walk down the aisle coincide. As for the name - we eagerly await leadrships naming of the event. Until then, I will wake up each morning and wait for white smoke to come from the chimney, and we are ready for the announcement.

Happy new Year - Joe

Well Gang ...

Due to the uncertanties in the National situation, and that we have possibly two events contiguous in both schedule and geography (The ATHS National sshow scheduled for Harrisonburg in the same time frame ...

We're going to forgo the event formerly called "Homecoming" and just all plan to gather at the Harrisonburg show this Spring. Given what's going on politically and with the medical hysteria not dying down anytime soon, it's too much to ask folks to plan/host/participate in such an event. Let's just have a good turnout in Harrisonburg and call it a Win.

For those who otherwise would have been traveling from outside the NoVA/MD/SoPA area ... feel free to organize a get-together closer to home this Spring -- all you need is two or three. That's how the ODSS started!

Sorry, but ... See you in Harrisonburg! 2-5 June 2021
