Merry Christmas Eve all,
Is there any chance anybody knows where to get ignition, glovebox, and door lock cylinders all keyed the same for my 53 chevy 3/4 ton?

I think most of the vendors (Jim Carter, Classic, etc) sell repop locks keyed alike. OOPS, I just did a quick search and didn't find anything except single cylinder/keys.

The other option is to take them to an old school locksmith and have two of them rekeyed. If you take the lock assembly out of the door, there will be a key code stamped near the stem going to the latch mechanism. With that code, you can get a key made to fit it and the ignition and globebox locks rekeyed. As a point of interest, the glovebox lock only has 5 tumblers as opposed to 6 like the door and ignition have, so would be easier to rekey to match one. My plan is to get the glovebox rekeyed to match the door lock and have the ignition different (being a cheapskate).

Find a REAL local locksmith that is familiar with old car cylinders and they can key them all alike very easily. Most locksmiths are parts changers so phone around to find an old guy that has been doing this for decades. When you find the right guy he won't sound confused but will sound confident dealing with this...

the ignition and door locks might be rekeyable to match the glove box lock so there is a chance to get them all the same

the glove box lock contains mushroomed pot aluminum in the assembly and is not considered rekeyable because you can't undo the crimping of that pot aluminum and expect it to not break.
the idea from the factory was that the 3-4 digit code on the lock could (and still can) get you a new key made without ever needing access to pins and their springs
otherwise if you need more than just a key you get the whole lock assembly new

The attached pic of a glovebox cylinder shows the staking of the wire holding the tumblers in place. Not an insurmountable task for a good locksmith. The original staking could be cut away, the lock re-keyed with new tumblers, and new staking done to hold the new tumblers in place.

on edit: Good find, Dads50. That's one place I didn't look. Nothing at JC, Classic, or The Filling Station.
