It was doing crazy things and would not print. It said reinstall black cartridge nope nothing. Also, I received an email that it would be obsolete in Dec but I order new cartridges and now it is working. It said I installed genuine HP cartridges. So it and they know that I had off-brand cheaper ones installed. I just printed somethings and it worked fine. ohwell

I've got an OLD HP895cse. It's been a great printer but factory cartridges are no longer available and I rarely ever print anything so the cartridges dry up before I get much use out of them. I've read tank type printers are good for occasional printing because the ink is in air tight tanks and won't dry out. I've not been able to find a stand alone tank type printer though. All I've found are all in one and I already have a good flatbed scanner.

LDProducts.com best printer cartridge source and very reasonable prices.

I've been getting reman cartridges through Ink Technologies but they still sit for so long they dry up.

The old inkjet printers used to have a hole int he top you could blow in to for the ink through the clogged pins, this has been removed for some time though. It would be nice if they brought that back in order to use the rest of the ink. I believe the hole was more for filling the cartridge at the time but it was a good trick to get customers a little more use. I stopped buyinig injet printers for this reason and have gone with a laser printer, in the long run you probably save some money by beinig able to use all the toner before having to replace, The laser printer pices have come dow a lot since they first came out.
