Does the attached picture show accurate detail on the GMC chrome hood trim regarding the painting of the 'shadow' areas? I also have a Chevy trim piece with some of the shadow area painted. It looks as though a little paint under the letters would make the GMC and Chevrolet names stand out a bit.

A teacher, but always an apprentice.
I’m guessing here, but weren’t the GMC hood callouts red in that groove? Hopefully someone knows for sure or can link to an old manual that confirms its color.

Thanks for the replies but what I'm talking about is the use of color in the small groove directly under the letters G, M & C. I'm just wondering if that was original or not. For what it's worth I believe red was the original color used in the big groove. The picture I attached shows a trim piece that has probably been repainted in what looks like a body color and, in addition to the paint in the small groove, also shows paint under and over the 'M' and some on the the other letters as well. I like the way the color in the small groove makes the GMC logo stand out.

It would look nice under the letters on the Chevy trim as well.
