1947, or 1948 3100?

Hi guys I have what I think is a 47 or 48, but the number plate is missing from the door jam. The engine is a 1949 passenger car 216, so there’s not much help. Is there a Vin number stamped on it anywhere else?

Judging from the dash it is a 1948. 1947 did not have a opening above the steering column for the column shift to pass through. 1947 had floor shift only.

Another clue, that knee breaker park brake bracket was a ‘48 only, ‘47 was a floor brake and future versions were rounded.

Wow! Thanks guys. I was kind of hoping it was a 48. I have a ‘48 Harley. Is the only Vin number on that number plate in the door jam?

Vin no vin, has been debated here since day one 25 years ago. The general consensus is there is no vin or serial numbers anywhere other than the plate for the AD years on Chevy Trucks. GMC Trucks is a different ball game.🛠

What kind of paperwork came with the truck, old title, registration (with a reference number of some kind), bill-of-sale?

Looks like you have some decisions to make, keep and find out how to title in Oregon or part it and find another.
