Hood to Cowl seal for COE?

Does anyone know if the material for the Hood to Cowl seal for a COE is the same as for regular trucks? I'm unfamiliar with the regular trucks but the COE hood is simply sheet metal with no inner support at the rear wear it lays on the cowl. My cab did not have a seal when I got it.

What years? 47-54 are different.

For orphan applications we first try seals (actually anti squeak) intended for other vehicles but if nothing works out we use a section of serpentine accessory drive belt with the ribs facing up. There are various widths according to number of ribs so a match up is usually possible. A countersunk head screw will sink the head below the surface so no metal to metal contact.

Thanks for the reply. A serpentine belt is a good idea, I have plenty of those around.

I just replaced my Hood to Cowl seal on my 3100. Looking at the assembly manual it appears to be the same only a bit longer. Classic Parts [classicparts.com] sells the rubber and it comes in one piece that has to be cut for the 3100. You could buy two seals, one for each side. They also sell the Screws and Clips [classicparts.com], of which you’ll also need two sets.

Here's what the hood to cowl seal looks like on a 47-54 COE. Two flat strip on top, and round bumperettes on each side.

Spanky, of course, has this right. Jim Carter has the rubber strips (part #FP217) and bumperettes (part #216).
