Headlight visors + AD trucks

Over the years I have noticed some AD trucks sporting a pair of headlight visors. They appear to be either chrome or stainless steel. I also notice that some of the major vendors today make them available. Were headlight visors originally available during the AD production years? If so, who made them? How practical were they to the common man using their truck for work purposes?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this topic.

Luke

I remember seeing them on cars and trucks in the late 50s. JCWhitney sold thousands of them through their mail order catalog.

Yes, as an aftermarket non GM item/accessory.

JC Whitney was probably one source?
