I've been contemplating buying a new radio/stereo for the '53. One that looks like the OEM but has FM/bluetooth and Aux and for 6 volt. I checked today and the unit is on sale for $130 off so I called and ordered one. It's still a lot of money but if I wait until I can "afford" one I'll never buy it. He said the units are built to order and there's "about" an eight week lead time so I might have just bought myself a Christmas present. grin <The stereo> [vintageautoradio.com]

It’ll also be cooler weather to install it. Cruisen listening to the oldies....... doesn’t get any better.

A friend wants a newer radio for his 1964 Corvair but like a lot of things the less expensive ones are for 1965 and up. I do his research for things for him.

If the picture is any indication, it sure DOES look like the original!

I'm also getting the OEM location speaker option so the install should be straight forward.

That's really cool! Quality tunes are always a plus. Nice to see some innovative parts out there.
