A Beautiful C1 Corvette is currently on BringATrailer and is highlighted in this article. [motorious.com]

Besides sharing for others to enjoy I've a question. What's with the radiator tank top that's integrated into the sheet metal on the right side of the engine?

At 150 HP I'm guessing the lit'l 235 has a very nice European feel and sound. Would love to have it in my front yard.

Tim, I just looked at the engine image again. With the front hinged hood it appears it'd be pretty awkward to lean in and check the coolant with a standard radiator cap location. I'm betting the design engineers placed the reservoir for ease of access. What a great idea. And if that's it, what happened to that concept.

Bring-A-Trailer (BaT) site [bringatrailer.com] for those not familiar with it.

That's the upper tank, which would normally be on top of the radiator. As low as the
front of the Vette's were, if it were on top of the radiator coil it would cut down the
cooling area to much.
The stock 235 was rated at 136 hp and the Vette used the truck cam and with the triple
side drafts and headers, that's how they could rate it at 150 hp. It sounded just like your
235 with Fenton headers.

moparguy, I may be mistaken but, I don't think Harley Earl or Duntove made a red 54. Please let me know I had two in the past (a 54 and a 55), my Dads 55 Roadmaster kicked my hiney in 1960. Doc.

Unless I miss read the question here you go. [duckduckgo.com]George Jones.[/urlMy brother in law a month ago bought a Corvette not his first but maybe his last. A used 2008 with 47000 miles and a gorgeous red. Last night he called and wanted me to pick him up at the local Chevy dealer. So I did and when he was on his way home from a meating about 12 miles away the tach quit working something else also but I don't remember what. It is sad that it happened because most things on cars today are expensive to even diagnose.

1954 Corvette---of course I have a story. In 1967 we rented our first shop in Plano, Texas but it had water seepage due to no gutters and down spouts. The landlord had a V8 37 Chevy 2dr, a V8 38 Chevy 2dr, and a 54 Corvette stored in the building. We made a deal to put the gutters and down spouts on the building for two months rent which came to $900. When finished we had $200 in materials for a $1100 total and the landlord tried his darndest to trade the Corvette for the bill so he could start getting cash for the rent from the start. The car was slick and ran great but no young guys would even consider driving a SIX cylinder Corvette during the height of the muscle car era. Kinda wish I had that $1100 Vette right now.

Looking at the dash picture in the article Moarguy linked to, the tachometer on that Corvette has some sort of 'counter' on its face. What is the purpose of that? Does it keep track of the total engine revolutions, sort of like an hour counter on boats?
