Can someone tell me what is the correct way to adjust the brakes on my 46 Chevy 1/2 ton. The brakes are stock. There are 2 adjusters for each wheel. One for each brake shoe. I'm guessing that both adjusters should be backed off so the wheel spins freely. Then I should adjust one shoe to the point where the wheel will not turn. Then back off on that adjuster until the wheel spins with slight drag. Then adjust the second adjuster until the wheel can not be turn and then back off on it until the wheel spins with slight drag. This makes sense to me but is this correct?

thanks HandyAndy. Do you know if the adjustment procedure I explained is correct? Or is there a better way.

I'm sure your procedure would get you there.....

I don't adjust them so tight that the wheel won't spin. While adjusting, I spin the wheel to the front on the front adjuster and toward the rear on the rear adjuster for each wheel. I adjust for a 'good' amount of drag and then loosen for a slight drag. Be sure your parking brake is adjusted correctly too. Click on the link in my previous post for the shop manual instructions.
