If I am correct it is not a restoration with the 235 in it. It is a modified. I have over $45,000 in my 54 but it was done with intent to drive it and I do. 36,000 miles since completion in 2008.I never thought I would be doing this with it. [photos.google.com]

52Carl, you are correct, as a museum curator I could get the Board of Directors to hand out the money but, we have a 49 that is just fine. Not as nice but we paid I believe $ 32.500 at Mechum three years ago I think that was the price. Have to look it up. I was surprised, the only thing I did with The County buyer was talk him out of a Ford. The only flatheads I work on are Mercury. Pull up some of the prices for Mechum, it will surprise you. John if I had to restore my old (and good) AD's today I could not afford it. dangAt least more folks than us know quality. Doc

That is not the only "detail" that is not original equipment/style.

Nonetheless, they are VERY nice looking trucks.

If you ever meet the owner at a show, stating/bragging that the truck looks like it did when it was originally delivered from a factory or dealer - would you nod and keep your mouth shut, or, would you say "well, not exactly"?

- The 216 and early 235 engines are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler. [chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com]

It depends on how haughty he acts. On my truck, if I am asked what engine I have I say Corvette. grin. Then I explain if necessary yahoo.

Guess we must be building Rat Rods. This was was sold (quickly) by the wife of a customer that died from cancer. Was judged 98 points at a car show. Note price on windshield.

I don't know if anyone here remember the post about a company, I think in the Caroliners that was building an all new 1954 chevy trucks for arounf $50,000, and they kept going up and up in price but I have not seen them advertised for years. I thought it was crazy at the time. But seeing what I have in my old refurbished it would have been a steal now.
