Would like to get a decent original latch in case my effort to repair mine fails.

I'm going to try building up the worn striker and safety catch with weld.

Also looking for outside handles. Mine are pitted and the shaft on the driver's side is badly worn.

Hi Kevin, What year is your truck? The strikers should be the same 47-54 but the handles changed. Gerry Lee

If the "latch" is called the "striker" by GM, the 47-51 striker [plate ?] [chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com] is different from the 52-55st striker [plate].

- If you have to stomp on your foot-pedal starter, either you, or your starter, or your engine, has a problem.
- The 216 and early 235 engines are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler. [chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com]

What I'm looking for is a LOCK (The part that goes in the door) and the pull-down style handle for my '51 pickup. PN 3684167 on this page [chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com]. They were the same from 47 thru 51 as Tim said. in '52 Chevy went to the pushbutton handles.
Probably what I called the striker in my first post should probably be more correctly called the bolt. I'm testing my welding and grinding skills on this one.
