I have a 1989 Jeep Comanche. It doesn't have a radiator cap. It has a pressure bottle on the firewall. When you drain the coolant you have to burp the system. Have any of you encountered such a thing? I am putting in a radiator with a cap and an overflow bottle this weekend. Hopefully, it will burp its self.

I had a 90 Cherokee. That engine will not burp itself.
You are supposed to fill the reservoir,
bring the engine up to temperature,
shut it off and allow it to cool.
"Wash, rinse, repeat" as many times as necessary until the reservoir no longer lowers after it cools down.
Then you keep your finger crossed that it is right.
I almost blew mine up not knowing this.

Most engines with part of the cooling system above the top of the radiator will have a bleeder screw that can be opened while filling the system. If not, find the highest hose connection and disconnect it while filling to allow the trapped air to be displaced.

I have heard of running up on blocks while filling or at least get the nose uphill.
