My 1937 GC has a 39 216 and I was reluctant to post these pictures for fear of extreme jealousy! Seriously, has anyone seen these vintage add-ons to help the old girl breathe better? They are stamped with patent pending (wonder how that went?) Soldered or leaded into place and stuffed full of Brillo pad like steel wool. Creativity at its best.

big_eek Looks like their imagination got carried away.
Mistaking the valve cover for a missile slicing the air!

Those look better than NACA scoops on an airplane!

Those covers look cool, but I'm going to guess they will actually hinder, not help the crankcase ventilation. The air blast from the fan will create a low pressure area behind the add-on covers that will probably cancel out the vacuum created by the airflow past the end of the road draft tube. There will be little, if any flow from the valve cover, through the crankcase, and out of the draft tube like is supposed to happen.

I'm with Jerry on that idea. Maybe if you mount them the other way so the fan pushes air into them?

Installing a PCV valve in place of the road draft tube might be the best solution.

they are installed facing the firewall so not an issue. they did not open the tops beyond the factory slits, must've just been for looks and bragging rights "mine are bigger"!

If you reversed them, the fan might make positive pressure in the engine. That probably won’t help keeping the oil in the crankcase.
