Making some upgrades on a 8'x40' flatbed trailer that's been repurposed into a bridge on the road to the cabin. The '51 with it's flat bed seemed to be the perfect candidate to rig out as our new welding rig. So far it's been just about perfect. With the recently added overload springs it's pretty happy with the 1,000lb. (or so) load it's now carrying full time.
We're adding 3"x12" junior I-Beam to each side of the 8' wide bridge. The I-beams primary purpose will be the attachment point for banisters on both sides of the bridge. The new beams will see very little load since vehicles will contact the banisters before they can get to the edge or the new iron.
Today's project is finish up welding in the 3" angle supports, add gussets, lay I-Beam in place and stitch weld it to the bridge. About a 150' of 6010 5P welding to go.
With little Bro helping on the rigging and card carrying welder nephew (CWI also) running bead, I'm just the lead helper.
