i purchased a 1 piece replacement hood for my 1951 gmc from oer. the hood is 5/8 inch shorter than my original when measured down the center.listing was for 1947 through 1952. im thinking my hood might be from a 1953.does anyone have a measurement for a 1953 hood?also does the hood extend over the grille surround? i would appreciate any help. i contacted oer the wont speak to me . vendor i purchased from contacted oer and told him they dont have dimensions of the hood.

Welcome back to Stovebolt.com

You might want to also post this question on the oldGMCtrucks.com [oldgmctrucks.infopop.cc] discussion.

What does "oer" mean?

You just measured the hood but haven't actually tried to install it?

If that's so, I'd advise not getting excited until you do a test fit. The measurement difference could be in the curvature, not the overall length. Heck, it might actually fit and look BETTER than your original.

i fit the hood and it comes up short.it should overlap edge of the grille surround. i joined oldgmctrucks.com and a member measured his hood and it matches my original. now im waiting for classic industries to send another hood . hopefully the next one fits correctly
