I ran into an old friend who has stock (4.11) gears and became jealous that I am running 3.55 and wants to have a similar setup. Since I believe Patrick's is no longer, who do you guy recommend as a source?

cheers

Sweet,
Thanks but the phone number you provided doesn't like me. I didn't realize that MT was still around. Email bounced back as well.

Or go straight to his Ebay ad, just search Chevrolet truck 3.55 and you will see his product.

Craig,

It you are looking for "parts kits" and cannot find some, let us know.

I am a firm believer/promoter of those parts kits.
Your installation will have:
- fewer leaks
- smoother/quieter running/operation

- The 216 and early 235 engines are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler. [chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com]

Kent,
I found MT on ebay with thanks.

Tim,
Thanks. While I wait to see if my friend wants to move forward, I'm now considering replacing my own 3.55 gears for mine have been recently found shredding some metal which is ending up in the oil. Got 13,000 miles on them and think it's probably best to simply replace the gears as well as both pinion bearings, etc. If there is a parts kit that you recommend, I'd be interested.

Regards
Craig

Here are some vendors who list the parts kits for sale:

Chevs of the 40s [chevsofthe40s.com]
Classic Parts - 1940-1950 [classicparts.com]
Classic Parts 1951-1954 [classicparts.com]

MT (Mother-Trucker) is the best source for the R&P gear set.

A 1954 31xx would need an earlier ring gear carrier.

You mentioned in you posting about parts kits for rear end conversions to a 3.55.

Mother Trucker has the gear sets.

Can you tell me more about the kit?

Thanks,

Mike

By the way, is there anybody in The Tampa/St Petersburg area that has done this?
