So I put a new water pump on my 216. I was advised not to use any gasket sealer but now there is a small drip coming from
the bottom right bolt. Do you guys normally use gasket sealer or did I just not get it in exactly right? I ordered a new gasket
but prefer to only do it once more.

sorry to hear about your leak, normal threads don't seal by design, so if a bolt going into any liquid i put some permatex onto it first.
when i replaced my water pump i put a slick of that stuff everywhere, i don't think there is a particular reason not to, except it makes it more difficult to remove in the future
perhaps there is other reasons, but mine works fine with goop

I always put Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket on water pump and t-stat gaskets...never had a gasket fail.

WHAT Mike said, dont get crazy, let the gasket do its job, make sure the surface is clean an I just lightly coat my gaskets
