Popped mine up today. DJI Spark. Straight up from my front yard to 400 feet, a 360 sweep, and a landing. Much cheaper than renting a helicopter.
Have a look:

I have thought about getting one then I remember that I could not pass the helicopter portion of Army flight school. I passed fixed-wing but they were not wanting that but helicopter pilots for Viet Nam. Missed by 12 points.

You must have spent big bucks to get one that was as stable a platform as that Jim.
Out of curiosity, I bought two, both under $100, one with camera, one without.
They are not much more than mere toys. The one with the camera is a pain in the ars
to get the video in usable form and both are only able to fly in absolutely still air.
The slight breeze blows them around to the limit of their controls.

They are amazing. I have some youtube shows where the drone can track you and then return to where you are. I was not very good with balsa wood planes of my youth.

I have a little one in a box. I've never played with it.. I should bust it out and see how the cats react to it.

Another quality post.

I've been involved in RC for about 35+ years. I played around with a few drones. My last one was a 1000MM (39.4") Hexacopter. Full 1080 360 camera running a 6S 22.2V 10,000mAh battery pack. The link to the video for the initial test flight is below.

Didn't realize whenever I add a pic or video I have to go back in and share it. Should work now.
