Listening to a show on the radio this afternoon called Mountain Stage I heard a ukulele player like no other (at least in my eyes). He's from Hawaii. Here is a video of him performing.

Been listening to him for a few years John. He's about the best there is today. Just bought my
daughters step daughter a mid-priced one for Christmas. She plays several wind instruments
the guitar and has been talking about a ukulele for a while. She picked it up pretty quick and
I told her to check out some of Jake's videos.
That style is a far cry from Arthur Godfrey's visits to Hawaii and "The little grass shack" back
when I was a kid.

His playing really surprised me. I never knew a ukulele could sound so well. He's definitely one very talented individual.

I bought a Uke after I had been to Hawaii a couple of times because it looks easy to play and like all musical instruments I am not musical inclined. ohwell

Welcome to the club Ron.....I been pickin' on the gitfiddle since I was about 7 or 8 and
still can't get it to play Mary Had a Little Lamb!!!!
I don't think any of the ones I had came with any music in them, and I've never been
able to find a source for it and I'm a year older than you.

All this talk of ukes and Hawai'i ... Well, he may not be the most accomplished uke player ever, but no one put it all together like

Bruddah Iz ... [youtube.com]

Aloha,

Not so amazing when you consider the poi diet so popular with the native Pacific Islander population ... If he'd have laid off the poi, he'd probably be still with us today ...
