I would like to get away from the data gathering of google and switch to Duck Duck Go but have had no luck with the self help approach. Have a private computer store 15 miles away or a Geek Squad 25 miles away. Any idea what a smart person would charge a dummy with a windows 10 to do server change? Thanks;
Evan

Hopefully someone can help.

We'd like to get away from Google also. They have really changed over the weeks and we don't like it. Have worked on not using the "google term" when meaning "search." It's a start.

We're looking into Duck but haven't gotten very far. A concerned about starting yet another change. At least not until we have a few over things under our belt.

We'll be watching to read the responses here.

Thanks,
Peggy M

Evan, I have a nephew near you that has a computer service company. He maintains computers for his customers in the Dallas area.
Send me a pm and I'll give you his number.

Evan,
Are you just trying to get away from Google for searching. DuckDuckGo is just a different search engine application that you can install as your default search function.
Here's their website [duckduckgo.com] (which I Googled to find wink )

Or are you attempting to make it the search engine for a website (as Peggy is likely looking for)? In that case, I can't help.

In another thread somewhere I told that I have switched to DuckDuck and love it. Brave is the search in the browser and DuckDuckGo is for web search. My IT guy did it in just a few minutes. I forgot how many THOUSANDS of ads/popups ect that it has already blocked........if you find the thread in the IT Forum you'll find several here are using it and like it.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

It's just a browser setting. In Brave/Crome/Chromium, put the following in the address bar: chrome://settings/search

and Select DuckDuckGo

I’ve been using the same setup (Brave/DuckDuckGo) now for several month and love it! I used DuckDuckGo with chrome before Brave for several years with no issues. Definitely the way to go!

Yes, to the switch to something else (Duck Duck probably). I so much hate ads. If it is do-able, we'll make Duck Duck the default search.

I like separate Search icon on the forum (the spyglass) It has a nice presentation for the data searched for.

I use to really like Google when they were young but they seemed to be a bit full of themselves ... maybe.

duckduckgo is pretty good for most things and I use it by default most of the time... but if it's really important, Google is still the King.
