Homecoming T-Shirts?

What do you'all think about a Homecoming T-shirt?
I'm sure Shelly in central Illinois would be happy to print some shirts out for us.
All we need is a design, the color of the shirt and a place to ship it to.

Then again, there is also a place close to the Grigg's compound that would also print up whatever we want.

Just looking for some thoughts on this idea.

I think Bruce drew this just sitting around the table last year and chatting.
Think we can get him to draw something up for this year.
All we need is a design and I'll coordinate the rest.

Bruce needs to refine his drawing a bit. Looks like a F**d. The fenders are too squared off for a Chevy. eeeek

I think we should use the picture from last years homecoming with all of the trucks placed in a circle. If it was done in a black and white photo. it would look like an old photograph and make a cool shirt! That's my thought ! As long as it doesn't look like a dag gone Ford on the shirt, put me in for 3 of them !

What is wrong with a Ford?
Looks like Tim and I will be in the old F-250 again this year.
Granted, the early Fords did not have much style.
The newer ones are towing SOB's though and I have hauled several 2-Tons with it.

As for the shirt design, all I need is the design on the back, color of the shirt and a design for the front pocket.
We'll have them made up at a place near the Grigg compound.
I'll take orders and front the cost.
Any cash above what each shirt costs, will go to the Grigg's, as thanks for hosting the event.
The road trip is on!!

Sold it it to a friend in North Carolina.

As much as I like/concur/enthusiastically endorse Brother Schmidt's brilliant suggestion ... harrumph .... but ..... Maybe .... we should start incorporating the previous year's "Ned" recipient's truck into the design each year?

How about a Ozark hillbilly and and Australian loaded to the gills driving a Ford?
On a side note, I recently acquired a French Fry slicer.
So fries will be on the menu this year along with other fat free deep fried foods.

Back to the shirts, we still need a design!
I'll call A & S Screenprinting and Embroidery next week and see what they can do for us.

Don,

Why does the truck in the manger keep showing up in your pictures? Are you hoping an angel shows up to fix the truck for you? Maybe it could lead the wisemen and sheep to homecoming.

I think the shirts should be Hot Pink in color!
Then a design that supports Breast Cancer Awareness.
Maybe something simple like this?

Hey look! It's a ...
Well, as you don't exactly have a line up of people scrambling to do the shirt design, I'll do it. I'll even make it complementary with the dash plaque (if the Dash Plaque Guru wants) Got a deadline?

And *if* a Stovebolt.com event is going to endorse a particular fund raising activity, the Stovebolt.com owners will be the ones who decide which one that is.

There is more (a LOT more) to this event than beer drinking, so how about we focus on that, OK? Yes, the idea is to have a good time, and we always do. But we may have a lot of 1st timers coming who may want to bring family members. Yes, we consume a beer or two, but its not the focus of the event. If this ceases to be a family friendly event, then I think we should stop doing it.

I had more to say about the whole point of HC but I'll put it in a seperate thread.

Jim -- Love you like a brother you truly are to me, but the group pictures look great in high rez but they will look like crap when reduced to a 4-color (or B&W) for t-shirt silk screening.

Thanks,
John

Just talked to Allen at A&S printing that will do our shirts. They are just up the road from the Mullen's.
He will be sending me a price list and wants the order in at least two weeks in advance.
That is for all the same color pocket shirts, big one color design on the back and a small design on the pocket.
I'll do the coordination to get it done, but we need to decide the color of the shirt and John is going to do the design.
A new thread will be started for taking orders once a shirt color is decided.
If we order 24 or more, the price really drops a lot!

So give us your thoughts or you may get a pink shirt.
Don

Don ...

I sense that we are not getting a whole lot of enthusiasm for a shirt this year ... I *am* woriking on a generic Stovebolt.com shirt, though ... might that suffice? And in true ODSS fashion, we could use Sharpies to make it an ODSS event shirt ...

FWIW I would be happy with some new SB gear. All my previously purchased shirts were worn until my wife wouldn't let me off the property with them on. Then, they sadly became shop rags.

I could support the SB shirt idea too. The color isn't an issue, but I don't need a pocket. Just saying..........

COLOR..... not sure about most of you but I wear my SB shirts a lot of place and this includes the SHOP.. I'd like to see moderate to dark color to help hide some of the grease. Have not fear though, no matter how dark you can still see the grease!
So, for me personally, no light orange, yellow, red ect. Go medium to dark.....and a dark shirt with a one color graphic will stand out nicely.
What say the masses.....

Since the printer shouldn't care what color the T-shirt is I see no reason we couldn't have two different colors using the same color "outline". He simply slips a T-shirt on the machine, the machine don't care what color. And, perhaps he has a color we would like that he is overstocked on and we could even get a better price!! I'll take one each!!

( I better be quiet. My 38 years in textile printing is wanting to kick in here)

I agree with Johns observation that a special event shirt is not necessary.

I motion to shelve the special event shirt efforts and defer to John's plans for standard Stovebolt shirts.

I'm ready for some new SB shirts as well! I'm wearing the "Winter Classic" shirt we had our names printed on from way back when...the ones that all had SWEET printed under our names...lol

I'm with Alvin, no light colors...and dark blue and black are to hot...my go to color seems to be Gray.

I second the motion to shelve the special event shirt and go with a new design Stovebolt shirt.

I also make a motion to use gray as the shirt color. With a pocket.
Gray is a good neutral color and not too hot.

I should have a price list tonight from A&S printing and will post that list.

I too agree shelving the event shirt for one that is Stovebolt.com in nature for a few reasons:

1. Customability - If the same shirt company is used as before, the purchaser has the ability to take the given design and place it on the color of shirt they choose.

2. John spends a TON of time making these items for sale for the site.

3. Most importantly, the proceeds for the shirt go to Stovebolt.com to help fund the sight.

On our way to the doctor's, we were noticing good color combinations. Various shades of beige, gray, green. The gloomy sky and rain, really brought out the way the colors in the woods interact. Like the shades of rust, grease, and dirt. eeeek

Peggy, so what you were really doing was trying to make something positive out of this rainy, gray, ugly weather pattern we are in here in Murland, right?
I guess it could be worse, the weather lady on WTOP said if the temperature were lower, the rain we got the other day would have been over 2' of snow.
Homey don't want that. Another month or so and my 41 year side career in snow removal will be over nanner Whoo Hoooo!

Topic thieves!
Good to hear from you Peggy!

Here is the price list I got just now from A&S screen printing.

Hope this works!
Don

Edit: looks like we can get the pocket T's for well under 15 bucks a shirt.
If we order 24 or more.

I’ll purchase a dark one or 2! I’m sure the new bolters in TX might be up for one also!

I have one somewhere Alvin.
The purple ones looked good and made with quality, but were too hot for that weekend.
I guess it could called a vintage shirt now. I believe it was at the 2009 Reunion.
My first one.

Don,

I won’t make it to homecoming. I can’t pull kids out of school and no babysitter!

We understand Chris
Family and work comes first. This is just a hobby and a social circle.
Let me know if you'll be at the lake next summer and maybe we can meet up again at that funny grill.
