Me thinks it must be a age related mental issue. For most of my life I've not been a Corvette fan. Sure I love the '63 split windows, and '67 was a great year along with 57-62. That said, I used to be a sports car snob. The 1962 E-Type Jag (flat floor) I lucked upon and bought for a song back in 1975. There was a 61 TR3 then 67 TR4A and then a 75 Fiat 124 Spider and they all convinced me that real sports cars came from across the pond. Corvettes were for those overweight monied folks who didn't know any better and I used to feel sorry for them since they were so misguided and didn't even know it. Of course the fact that it was so much fun to embarrass em on the local back road 1/4 with an assorted collection of Mopars helped with my lack of respect for the breed.

THEN along comes the 2020 Corvette. 490 HP, sub 3 seconds to 60 mph, "near" 200 mph top speed, 26 mpg, a ride that supposedly is great. Looks that once belonged exclusively to very high-end European design team cars and.......a sticker that can be less than 60k. That's less than most any nice new diesel pickup.

I WANT ONE. Fortunately I don't need one and no way should I be thinking, what can I sell to generate the funds necessary to buy a red convertible with the retractable hardtop and tan leather interior.

Yep, must be early onset of old age driven bad judgement. A return to my teenage years, at least as far as judgement goes. Of course Mrs. Kathy Mopar claims I never left those years. She may be right.

Sure would like to own one. Sure do need a dependable cruiser to see this great nation in.

Not a fan. Don't like the look. It doesn't look like a vet.

Is it me or does the rear look like the frontend of a Camaro?

I have driven the older vets and did not like them and the newest is not an improvement. My opinion is not humble but it is my right to have.

I have to disagree with the overweight part of that. A friend has a '63 'Vette and I got behind the wheel (once). I'm a little rounder than I use to be, but definitely not overweight, and I had to twist like a pretzel to get behind the wheel. It was like I needed another knee joint in both legs. frown
I'm more of a truck guy, so don't follow Corvettes or other sports cars, although it would be cool to go 200mph (probably just once big_eek)
My wife's Escape has the automagic memory power seat, and it will occasionally go to her seat position (I'm 6'3 and she's 5'3) and crush me against the steering wheel if I'm not fast enough on the button. It's supposed to recognize my key fob and go to the right position, but often doesn't. I think it's just that the car hates me and is trying to kill me without even going anywhere. ohwell

Kevin, go to the local airport and take a flight to somewhere there is your 200mph.

RonR, I agree the new corvette is absolutely spectacular looking with performance to match. The exotic mid-engine look reminds me of a $200,000 plus Ferrari and makes the previous generation look really antiquated. From everything I’ve read, the first year production is already completely sold out, and demand is so high none will be sold for the advertized $60,000… Barrett Jackson just sold the rights to the first car off the line for $3 million.

When I was driving an Austin-Healey 3000, I called Corvettes "Fiberglass Impalas"!

Been there done that, even riding in the cockpit of a C-130 Hercules once, but it's not the same as driving yourself at a crazy speed on the ground. Once when in Vegas I considered doing the NASCAR Experience thing, but I'm a cheapskate. ohwell
