Well those of us in Mid Missouri are officially having an Ice storm.
It's about 1/8 inch thick right now with some more rain moving in, in about an hour.
But? It supposed to warm up overnight! Go figure that one out?
Things are good for us, Ribs in the oven, baked beans and mashed taters staying warm on top.
Wood stove is putting out nicely and we still have power.
Kerosene lamps are on standby in case we need them tonight.
Deerslayer is curled up in the living room also.

Ice cleats are also mounted on my boots, for when I go out and stuff the wood stove.

We had a touch of the freezy skid stuff but dodged the bullet.

Just went out to put more wood in the furnace. 32 degrees and still peppering down freezing rain.
Deck was so slick I went back in and put on the ice cleats.
Fire in the wood stove went out, so I'll wait till the morning to fire it back up.
Looks to be about 1/4 inch of ice on trees.
Hopefully we will keep power to the house, but we still have a backup generator I can get going tomorrow.
Looks like snuggle time tonight with Vicki or the DeerSlayer, maybe both?

High today in New Castle, NSW, Australia today or tomorrow, 75 degrees. Lows 68 degrees.
Dress warm Tim when I pick you up at the airport in a couple months!

When I was stationed in Little Rock back in the late 1960's, 1/4" of ice on the roads was entertaining- - - - -if those folks could get their cars moving, they didn't think much about stopping or steering- - - - - -100+ accidents in the first hour after the rain started freezing on the roads!

It headed our way last night. got about 3 or 4 inches of wet snow when I took the mutt out for her
midnight walk. Weatherman on WGN says the temps are gonna drop like a rock tomorrow afternoon
so I'm looking forward to shoveling all morning. If this freezes solid I'll have 300 feet of drive to
deal with and a big pad between the house and barn. Jerry stopped by here a couple of years back
and knows what I'm talkin' about.
We loose power out here three or four times a year, so it wouldn't surprise me if this takes down
the lines tonight.
But......I could be sweating my cookies off down there in the tropics like some of our members.
I'll take a few days of cool weather any time over a sunburn and skin cancer. Sweetie face is
getting something burned off or cut out every times she goes to the Dermatologist because
she spent her youth out in the NC sun.
