Don. not everyone has as loving and understanding wife and in your case she has to be. wink. I would sit down periodically and explain our finances but she insisted we did not have any money but she found out the hard way she was wrong.

When I was in my apprenticeship in, south St.Louis.
Every Friday the guys would run to the bar at lunch.
Hand the owner their paychecks, drink beer while he went to the bank and cashed the paychecks.
Then back to work in a heavy duty job shop.

And yes Ron, Vicki lets me do what I want. Including another road trip with Tim.
Think you can hang with us on Beale Street this year?

I was going to do a play on the word, hang. NO. I have always been the designated driver even when I go out with my son. He just has a beer or glass of wine. One of my friends calls me a lightweight.

I was manager at a local plant that started direct deposit........I was the LAST one to give in. The big financial guy told me to give a slip for it or he would hold my check. I told to keep the darn thing I didn't need it. It laid in his desk drawer for MANY weeks. But, as you suspect, I ended up giving in after about two months.

.....I go to the bank once and draw out what I need. No need in doing all the paper work for ATM's/debits and such. I like keeping it simple. Been doing it for the last 20 plus years.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

For all you Debit Card users a word of caution. Expert financial advisors will tell you to get rid of them. It seems the bad guys can drain your account in seconds if they get your PIN and the Bank will not replace the funds. This is just what I have heard. Personally I don’t have one. I use credit cards only because they are said to be safer.

I have had that happen also. I always make them give me a paper one.

I wonder how much good all these security sights are when it seems anyone can hack the US government and also foreign governments.

Assume that anything on-line can be broken into.
All my non-store charge cards have free theft insurance.

I always obtain a written/printed receipt for cash payments. I cannot remember ever being told that I could not be given a receipt (printed or written) - even in a small "cafe".

I also only use charge/debit cards that automatically/always send me an email message when any activity/event takes place.

We have very few store charge cards - Home Depot, Lowes, & Amazon.
I have cancelled the Lowes card twice - their "automated" billing/notifications and websites are terrible.
You have to call three different companies/numbers to address any problems (usually dealing with returns).

None of my charge/debit cards has any fees.
Except for interest, if I do not pay them off each month.
However, I almost always pay them off each month. Except maybe for a large purchase with a promotional "no fees for one year" - I pay them off at the end of that year.

We like to pay cash for tips in a restaurant/bar/cafe (we put the tip into the hand of the wait-person).
This way we know that person gets the tip (unless the wait person shares it with other employees).
Also, we are quite careful crossing out the tip/gratuiity part of a bill/receipt that we sign.

- If you have to stomp on your foot-pedal starter, either you, or your starter, or your engine, has a problem.
- The 216 and early 235 engine are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler.

Most of what you said I do, TC. I overshot my budget last year for dental work, so this year starts behind. Nothing catastrophic just that I like to stick to my planned spending. It is one of my reluctances for buying the Plymouth is the hidden expenses, still planning to.
