Do all 235 small side covers have that bump for that oil line,I have a 60 block and looks like I do not need one and going to be putting a 216 side cover over top and not wanting to dent the 216 side cover to do it. If they all have that bump I was thinking on cutting it off and putting a plate over the hole I cut but if the 50 to 54s do not then I will try to find one,I had to dent this cover and trying to not do it on the new engine.

What are you going to do about the easy-to-pick-off 12 volt starter on the stealthy 235? smile

Only the experts will know it has 12 volts and there is a alternator on the other side.

This is a photo of the latest production 235 I have, it is a 62 and the side cover has the bump. Of course it could have been changed at some point. I also looked at my pile of side covers and they all have the bump so it seems that all have the bump, at least 55-62.

I don't believe the 1950-52 235 side cover had a bump, and it will fit.

I am heading to the old junkyard saturday and hope to find a 50 to 52 with a powergide and see if there is a factory pcv system too.

Just messing with you, Jeff.
I have a '53 235 with Powerglide in my very stock looking '50 and a snot-nosed kid of about 17 years old walked up to my truck, took one look at the engine and asked, "That's a 235 isn't it?"
Burst my bubble. That episode did give me hope for the current new generation though.

Before I put the 216 side cover on the present 235 I over heard a couple old guys trying to figure out what it was,I did have the 216 valve cover and road draft tube on it and its painted orange. The new 235 is gray and should look older.

I have a short side cover without a bump. Instead it has an "X" pattern. The side cover is from a Canadian 216 that used short side covers from 50 - 52 but I expect it fits a 235.

I made a tall side cover for my 235 and if I recall correctly I had to relieve the backside about 1/16" deep to clear the bump.
