I had a cat when I lived in the city.
It's name was Killer after I watched him chase down a squirrel and kill it.
Then brought it to the front porch, minus the head.

I now have a German Shepard on the farm. He got a eight point buck last year.
Swam it to death.

As fishy as the pond where the murder was alleged to have occurred...

Growing up on the farm we acquired a female cat. Dad named her Mrs. Isadora Dinkelheimer!
She raised several batches of offspring, all of which were excellent hunters.

I was born on a dairy farm in northern Maryland I remember cats being around the barm and farm but never in the house. when we moved to town we had Beagles and rabbits but no cats.

Rusty -- Once upon a time when I returned to Camp Butler from a Team Spirit or Valiant Blitz (they all run together now ... frown ), I discovered that Peggy and the girls had adopted an Okinawan cat. We named her Neko (pretty original, huh?) She was a great cat that took care of things and didn't take any crap whatsoever from the neighbor's pit bull. But neither did she bother the canary much, either (his name was Bud). I think some cats have gotten a bad rap. Cats like Rick's and Rich's and Neko are the perfect man pet -- they look after themselves, can teach us a lot about hunting, don't load us up with emotional neediness, are pretty quiet and leave us alone for the most part. And some even like hanging out in the shop with us till the wee hours. I think the good ones are just foundlings, domestic short hairs or whatever you call the Cat, Standard, multi-colored, 1 ea. Fancy designer breed cats on the other hand ...

Somehow I get the feeling that some of you don't believe the story about Shep, The Deerslayer.
