Billy, If you were running Buzzard's Bay or Vineyard/Nantucket Sound in a Nauset or Sakonnet, then you are one of us. Rivers are boring.

Yes Martin, we have several big fish fries every year.
One is all crappie and another is catfish. Then a few smaller ones during the summer.
Along with a dutch oven of baked beans and fresh fried pork rinds, potato chips, wagon wheels and of course hush puppies.
Everybody brings a covered dish.

The last couple years I have been deep frying at the homecoming.
Pork rinds and tater chips.
When the guys are getting hungry, I can't keep up with the chips. Usually go thru about 15 lbs. of taters.

John, it would have been in a mid 60's Nauset and it would have been on the other side of the "arm". Most likely one of many trips heading south from Turo towards Rock Harbor......aaahhh, I can still smell the 2 cycle and hear the purr of that big black motor......zzzzzz. What memories!

On a completely different note. Well done on the changes to the site. Its looking pretty sporty. I like it.

That ride back in without much to hang on was quite the challenge for sure. The rail next to me was all I had. I was using the windshield but it was too rough and I didn't wanna tear it off the console. Ol' John was definitely bringing it home. Probably the most fun I've had on a Boston Whaler in awhile. Any other boat would have had me laying in the bottom crying. Very stable and predictable in heavy seas. I've been out with Josh and his Dad on his Dads 45ft Hatteras on the bay and we caught alot of 30 inch Rockfish. Hopefully John and I will find our way there before the season closes.

Mikey -- Before Faith P and Makai go into the yards for their OWP ("Over-Winter Availability" ... that's shipyard speak for winter storage and maintenance... smile I'm the son of Maine ship builders, remember?), even if we lose the striper season, let's do a run to Solomons just to cruise and contribute to Global Warming. Preferably on a windy, chilly, rainy day so we don't have to dodge lubber Yuppies in their Bayliners and Yammie jet tubs smile Or crazy (but dry and warm) SMIBs in their 40-ft Hatterases ... wink

Billy -- Still ... That Bay is an impressive body of water ... our dinky Chesapeake Bay tributaries pale in comparison. smile. If you earned your Whaler chops there, you are certainly one of us.

I believe I shall just put on some short pants and a t-shirt and lay on the wet lawn in a cold rain, then drink so much Jim Bean that I vomit.
I will thus accomplish the exact same result while saving the planet (or cause the next ice age to arrive sooner, depending.)
