Stovebolt is pleased to support the Salvation Army! We're doing fine but many around the World are not. Instead of making a contribution to us this holiday season, how about making your contribution to a great organization with a long history of helping people in need around the world?
has anyone used jim carter wiring harness. what do you think? do you know a better suppler working on 1954 chevy 3100 with hyd-matic tranny witch means push button starter &netural safety switch also it will be 12 volt what do think? A BIG THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim Carter (and Classic Parts and Chevs of the '40s) 1954 "reproduction" wiring harnesses are almost the same. They work very nicely in 1954 3100/3600/3800 trucks.
The wires have plastic-coated wiring (as in 1954) and the are the correct 6v gauge (and the correct colors). 6 volt gauge wire will work fine with a 12v electrical system (which works with thinner gauge wire).
Only custom-made harnesses will have the extra leads used with a Hydra-Matic transmission. You will have to make those leads/wires.
I used Rhode Island wiring for my 40’s 1/2 ton and they did an awesome job. Wire color, size, terminations and length were all the same as the old factory harness and price was the same as most other “big box” stores. Plus they will add into the harness anything you need or want.
