I've fat-fingered this post and erased it 5 times so far! I'm back home, the hand surgery was a great success, and I'm virtually pain-free for the first time in about two weeks! Even when I don't take the pain meds right on time, there's only a dull ache, not the piercing pain and pressure I've been putting up with! I've got a post-op consultation scheduled with my surgeon on Monday to discuss follow-up wound care and physical therapy. If he's a conniseur of good whiskey (and there's darn few of us left) he's got a bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel coming his way!

HRL;

'Wishing you a speedy recovery. Don't get us started on what is good whiskey. That would be like discussing who makes the best oil or why a stovebolt needs electronic ignition. I'm a member of a local "whiskey club". We meet weekly to taste and compare all varieties of bourbon, rye and wheat whiskey (No Scotch). It's a tough crowd and many "Let me taste that one again" occur. Get well soon.

Maybe I had just gotten used to hurting 24/7, but the almost complete lack of pain is astounding! At the moment, I don't even need Tylenol, and I'm sure the surgery meds have all worn off! I'm beginning to think that my surgeon walks on water- - - -neither one of my carpal tunnel procedures felt this good even a week post-op! 18 hours past this one, and I'm barely aware of it!

Good to hear things are going well. “Fat Finger” typing? Is there any other way? Never learned to type, just not that coordinated. Too old now to care! laalaa

Good news Jerry ..I had quite a few fellow workers come down with carpel tunnel ,but after all the years of swwinging a hammer I never got it.. I have taken the electric shock test two times in my time of laboring ..but passed both times,, glad you are getting relief from pain as I hear it is a continuing pain that just dont quit... I drink Bullet Boubon ,,it helps everything . I do have a deck of cards of Jack Daniels and Jack Daniels weather Tempiture guage hanging on the garage wall..

The carpal tunnel fixes were only partially successful, about two years ago. This one's a cleanout of a couple of infected knuckles, the result of catching a sliver of steel off my lathe a couple of weeks ago!

Safety glasses and gloves Jerry. I know, “It just doesn’t feel the same”. I wear gloves for most everything mechanical these days and the safety glasses are firmly planted on my ugly mug. Can’t wear the gloves when I’m shooting though.

Sorry to disagree with you Martin, but never wear gloves, rings, loose clothing or long hair around rotating equipment!
That is machining 101.

I'm getting old folks skin. I just bump the back of my hand and 5 days later, there is a black scab there.

Don, I would think the tight fitting rubber (?) mechanic’s gloves would be ok. If caught on something they would rip away easily. I admit I’m not a machinist.
