Bought a 40 1.5 ton today! Runs good, drives like a box of rocks, every gear grinds when shifting. But someone has rebuilt the brakes and redone the interior, they also included many spare parts to include 2 grilles and a brand new complete wiring harness. It needs new tires, wiring redone and fenders and running boards reinstalled.

What can be done to modernize some things? I’d like to at least add seat belts but with the tank under the seat I don’t know how I’d mount them. I’d also like to have some sort of functional windshield wipers and a heater (it came with a very old crusty one but not installed).

I’d also like to eventually upgrade to possibly a small 3-53 Detroit diesel, 5 speed and get rid of the torque tube and install higher gears so I can actually drive it on the highway.

Nice. My first bolt was a 3/4t pickup.

Another quality post.

Nice truck Tony. It's what I call a "Great Score". The best place to ask questions will be in the related forums we have here in the "Bolt". For instance, I would ask about seat belts in the "Interior" forum, etc...

Welcome, I'm looking forward to reading about your project.

John
